The Young Health Service Redevelopment project involved the collocation of the Young District Hospital, Mercy Care Centre and Young Community Health comprising the following facilities:
52 beds, Emergency Department, Maternity, Radiology, Pathology, Operating Theatres, Pharmacy, Kitchen, Allied Health, Occupational Therapy, Dental, Physiotherapy and Helipad.
Construction was in 2 stages allowing the existing hospital to continue operation during the construction phase. The proximity of the new building to the existing hospital was such that construction was carried out in close coordination with the client, in particular constructing around Operating Theatre timetables. The facility consists of 4 linked, single level buildings covering approximately 6,300sqm. The construction is concrete slab on ground and brick veneer, utilising light weight steel wall framing and roof trusses.
