Wodonga Homemaker Centre

Wodonga Homemaker Centre

In May 2008, Joss Construction was awarded the $12 Million contract to construct the Wodonga Homemaker Centre, as part of this contract it was required to be completed within 7 months.  Constructed over 32,000m2, the green field site now accommodates 12 bulky goods tenancies within a covered floor area of 12,600m2, external perimeter roadway totalling 1,750m2 and 410 asphalted car parking spaces.

The building structure consists of concrete tilt up panels with infill slabs totalling over 4,600m3 of concrete and 320 tonnes of structural steel.  Joss recognised the time restrictions associated with the project and adopted an alterrnative construction logic in which they began with the erection of the concrete tilt up panels, followed by structural steel, then roofing prior to pouring the in-fill concrete floor slabs.
