Joss Construction Cadet Program

The Joss Cadet Scheme

Joss believes that developing its staff is critical to the success of the organisation and its future, therefore in 2008 we introduced a cadet training scheme. The Cadet Scheme supports young motivated people, with strong ethics and honesty, who are willing to take on responsibility, through a Bachelor of Construction Management or similar tertiary education, into an exciting career as a Professional Builder within a progressive construction industry.

The Bachelor of Construction Management provides broad opportunities for graduates within the construction industry, including working on tender submissions, quantity surveying and estimating, project planning and programming, quality assurance and safety, contract administration and project management.

Joss Construction delivers projects to the private and public sector, ranging from $500,000 to $90 million dollars, which guarantees to provide our employees a broad cross section of tasks and experience.

The Scheme

Our Cadets study part time and Joss makes available 1 day per week, during the University semester, to spend on university studies.

At the end of each semester Cadets provide Joss with subject results and Joss contributes a substantial portion to university fees.

There is no maximum limit to the number of Units Joss reimburses its Cadets for each semester, as long as the subjects have been successfully passed. There is however a minimum number of subjects required to be undertaken each semester to ensure Cadets become fully qualified within a reasonable period of time.

For its investment into this scheme, Joss expects to benefit from the knowledge and experience gained during the time Cadets have spent studying, and as such Joss requires them to remain committed to the company for a period of time following completion of the course.

Undergraduate Degree

Joss currently has 4 cadets studying Construction Management via distance education through the University of Newcastle.
